BEST BOOKS FOR NAVIGATING TIMES OF CHANGE

We wanted to take a little time this month to share with you our three BEST books for helping you navigate through times of change, taking the little steps forward and becoming the boldest, bravest version of you. All of these books have helped us move forward in some way or another - navigating different emotions, areas of work, relationships and things in life. Hopefully they may be of some help to you too!

GOOD VIBES, GOOD LIFE by VEX KING

Given to me by a lovely client, this book has been such a great one to pick up on days when we have felt a little unmotivated, uninspired and not really myself. Vex shares his wisdom on love, life and purpose in this book and leaves you feeling a more guided in ditching and releasing those negative feelings and considering how you can move forward from them.

Jenny recently re read one section in the book called Accepting Yourself (inspiring some of Jenny’s yoga class themes), and it really struck a chord with us as its something that I think many of us struggle with. Vex speaks about the need for us to to really accept ourselves before we can offer the biggest load of love and kindness to those around us. He makes some good points considering how we should respect our unique being, celebrate our achievements along the journey, and letting go of the past and perhaps just being totally accepting of ourselves is the bravest thing we can do?! A valid point!

Favourite quote from the book: “Transform your own world and you’ll hone the skills needed to change the world around you.”

LIGHT IS THE NEW BLACK BY REBECCA CAMPBELL

A little on the side of ‘the Universe is conspiring to give me everything’, (although don’t we all kind of want to believe that?!) - it may seem a little to '‘out there’ for some readers BUT this book is written by Rebecca Campbell, a woman who tells her story, embraces her intuition, spiritual side and wants to teach us how to do that too.

Once you get past the term ‘ Lightworker’, which Jen wasn’t too sure about, it’s actually a beautiful read because she describes things a lot of us go through in life (ignoring our intuition, trying to take care of ourselves, trying to make the right decisions) and also makes her book a guide to be more in touch with our souls and the universe around us. Some beautiful inspiring quotes and makes you look a little deeper into your soul.

Favourite quote: “The person you long to be is already inside you. You do YOU.

HOW TO FAIL by ELIZABETH DAY

How to Fail covers everything from relationships and careers, to friendships and families, Day writes both openly and eloquently about her own perceived failures, and how they have shaped her for the better.  It’s a book full of inspiring advice, some funny parts and she’s a very relatable character. How to Fail is a must-read, and one of the most affirming books I’ve ever read.

Elizabeth hosts a great ‘How to fail’ podcast (which the book was based on) which she speaks to businesses, entrepreneurs and inspiring people who have all failed at something, yet have succeeded in other areas and realised that the failures have in fact been the things that have shaped their lives or careers. It’s a good one if you’re having a bad day or week and everything seems to be going wrong - as it makes you remember that EVERYONE is human!

Favourite quote from the book: ‘Adventures do by definition involve risk, but not having an adventure means missing out on life, a far greater risk.”

We would love to hear any books or podcasts that you have read or recommend on similar topics?!
