Let’s start with the basics.
Start with a good quality gym mat. Some of the best workouts you do will be bodyweight. Spend well and it will last you a decade. A high grip 5mm yoga mat will work really well and double up for your Yin sessions too. Avoid getting anything thicker as you want a nice stable base to work on.
Small budget? Small Space?
Look no further than a resistance band. Long loop resistance bands are super light and versatile and cheaper than dumbbells. These bands can be used for most dumbbell exercises from deadlifts to thrusters, to shoulder presses. I would start with a light and a medium and you can always use them together for an extra challenge.
Cost effective - for maximum choice!
I love an adjustable dumbbell set. It will keep you progressing for years and will not take over your home. Lots of different brands and finishes to choose from but these ones are a bargain.
My Top Pick: Gallant Sport 20kg Dumbbell Set
My Top Tip: Charity Shops! You can be guaranteed to find lighter dumbbell sets, Swiss balls and even the odd balance board to mix up your home gym for a bargain price!
