TOP TIPS FOR HEALTHY SKIN THIS SPRING

Spring is here! With flowers and trees blooming, longer days, and warmer temperatures, many of us are spending more time outdoors enjoying the weather and emerging greenery and colour.

Spring is a great time to begin to transition your skincare routine from your intensive winter one to lighter, more rejuvenating products. Changing your skincare routine a little at a time as we ease into spring can ensure your skin stays supple without becoming irritated or overly dry as you phase out your winter products.

Our GP and Skin Specialist Dr Pippa shares her six top changes to make to your skincare routine as we head into a new season. Top tip: we have a discount partnership with UpCircle Beauty. Use the code BALANCE+GLO for 10% off your purchase of any of Dr Pippa’s recommendations.

It’s time to get that glo!

1. Invest in SPF

With the change in season, investing in an SPF early is one of the best things you can do. It will both protect from sun damage and hydrate. Newer, in date SPF, will also better protect and the mineral may be less reactive. Buying now means being prepare for any surprise sunny days.

My Favourites: Upcircle Beauty Mineral SPF and Drunk Elephant Mineral SPF

2. Pair SPF with Vitamin C

By pairing your SPF with Vitamin C they work together to better protect from sun damage. Vitamin C also helps to reduce any pigmentation. Use under SPF but do take care as this can make skin more sun sensitive, or at night in a separate product.

My Favourites: UpCircle Beauty Coffee Serum Enriched with Vitamin C and Lumene Vitamin C Eye Cream.

3. Spring Clean Your Skin Care

By this I mean check products are in date, especially SPF, as its protection diminishes with time. Re-purpose instead on your hands or feet!

Declutter, and focus on a few good quality products, helping to reduce being overwhelmed by the use of multiple products, which can cause skin reactions and break outs.

4. Try Exfoliating

To make way for brighter skin after dull winter skin a great tip is to gently buff away the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal the newer, brighter layer underneath. This can actually also aid the absorption of acting products and give better overall glowing results.

My Favourites: UpCircle Beauty Coffee Scrub and SkinandCo Truffle Happy Face Gommage

5. Switch to Gel or Foam Cleanser

As the Spring weather starts to warm up and temperatures increase, heavy winter moisturisers and cleansers may need a gradual switch to foams, gels or lighter creams. This is because the skin can start to produce more oil. Lighter products may reduce the risk of pores blocking and help prevent break outs.

My Favourites: The Body Shop Tea Tree Gel Facial Wash and Holland and Barreet Pip and Pod Peach Foaming Cleanser

6. Make the Most of Masks

This can be a great way to add extra moisture into your skin; hydrating, plumping and smoothing. As well as helping to recover any left over dry winter skin. Tailor to what your skin needs and treat your skin to some and yourself to some time out and a face mask.

My Favourites: The Beauty Pro Sheet Face Masks and Lush Fresh Face Masks.
