Here at Balance + Glo we have introduced monthly Wellbeing Plans for our members, to support them to stay inspired and motivated, and see real positive progress and results.
This Month’s Wellbeing Plan is the 7 Day Confidence Kickstart! This theme is about building confidence in all areas of wellbeing and life.
With this in mind, Balance + Glo Co-founder Jenny has gone through her book shelf for her top must read books for boosting confidence. We think you’ll love them!
1. ‘Grit’ by Angela Duckworth
Grit describes what creates outstanding achievements, based on science, interviews with high achievers from various fields and the personal history of success of the author, Angela Duckworth, uncovering that achievement isn’t reserved for the talented only, but for those with passion and perseverance.
This book is an awesome read to help you summon a little more 'grit' when times get tough and serves as a great reminder to KEEP GOING!
2. ‘The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F***’ by Mark Manson
Mark Manson comes up with sound advice about how to master this art - some of the best tips include remembering that there are very few things in life that really matter and constantly listening to other peoples’ opinions will suck your time, energy and joy.
The Subtle Art presents an entirely new approach to personal development, from top to bottom. Life is not about getting rid of problems, it’s about finding better problems. It’s not about avoiding failure, it’s about getting better at failure. It’s not about knowing everything, but becoming more comfortable in not knowing anything.
A great read if you need a reminder of what really matters!!
3. ‘The Imposter Cure’ by Dr Jessamy Hibberd
I can really identify with this book having felt the imposter syndrome kicking in more than a couple of times since running my own business! Dr Jessamy Hibberd helps to identify the type of imposter syndrome you may experience and has loads of practical advice and tips to ease that negative feeling and help you to move through the fear from embracing failing to increasing self-compassion.
4. ‘You Do You’ by Sarah Knight
Loved this book as a reminder to be unapologetically yourself. Sarah suggests be selfish where you need to, organise your stuff and wear the shabby old t-shirt you like to wear. A fantastic read for a confidence boost but also to help you feel validated about your choices.
5. ‘Everything Is Figureoutable’ by Marie Forleo
I love this book for showcasing how everything in life can be figureoutable, meaning that any problem or challenge can be solved with the right mindset and approach. Marie encourages you to adopt a can-do attitude and to believe in your own abilities to overcome obstacles.
It’s a great motivational and empowering guide for anyone looking to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
6. You Are Awesome by Matthew Syed
You Are Awesome is a book written for children and teenagers, but, I’m pretty sure anyone who reads it will take something positive away from it!
The book helps readers understand what a growth mindset is and how to overcome fears and failures. It’s great for introducing children (and even adults) to the concept of personal development.
Matthew gets into practical tips and strategies for developing self-confidence, improving communication skills, and building strong relationships and uses real-life examples and inspiring stories to illustrate his points.
7. You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero
The books is ace for helping you identify and overcome self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviours that prevent your from achieving your goals and living your best life. Jen writes the book in a true “I’m your best friend, but I’m going to kick you in the butt if you don’t take action” kind of manner. Jen is so good at outlining how change has a habit of calling the “big snooze” aka “BS” to action and trying to pull us back into our comfort zone by any means possible (i.e. making you insanely freak out before taking action).
8. The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein
If you’re a bit more spiritual then you’ll love this book! Gabby explores how to overcome fear and find inner peace through the use of positive affirmations, meditation, and gratitude to attract abundance and manifest dreams. She encourages you to trust in the universe and to let go of control, knowing that everything happens for the highest good. I love that it helps cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and the universe.
9. Daring Greatly by Brené Brown
Brené Brown is an absolute legend! And this book is a must to understand how we can use vulnerability as a strength. Brené explores the concept of vulnerability and how embracing it can lead to a more fulfilling life, stronger relationships, and better leadership skills. It allows us to connect with others on a deeper level and live a more authentic life. You might also like to check out her other books like ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’!
