OCTOBER: BALANCE

On the Online Studio this month it’s all about balance. We’re giving you the tools to discover where any imbalances may lie in your lifestyle, movement patterns, diet, and nervous system to help you re-align in preparation for the winter months. We’ll be sharing educational content on how to avoid burnout, create a better work-life balance and how Strength Training and Yoga are mutually beneficial.

The Balance Method is comprised of three pillars; Move, Nourish and Care.

Read on to find out what’s new in each pillar this October.

The movement classes on The Online Studio for Balance month will be governed by the concepts of Yin and Yang. Yin being the inward, passive energy, and Yang the energising, outward, and active energy. When these two qualities are in balance our nervous system is regulated, we have energy, and capabilities to deal with whatever comes at us. When it’s out of balance we can experience fatigue, burn out and low mood.

A major obstacle for all of us when finding a balanced wellbeing routine is time. This month to help you create a positive work-life balance we have a new 2-part on demand series:

The Daily Practice

-       Rise Practice (15 minute)

A quick morning practice – great for anyone who just needs a little something for the body and mind before starting the day. This sequence is designed to warm the body, hydrate the joints, and clear the mind quickly!

-       Restore Practice (15 minute)

A quick evening home practice that you can do each night before bed or after work. This class is to wind down the nervous system, work out the daily kinks in the body, and get you ready for deep rest.

Fitness for Beginners

Our lovely fitness instructor Hannah with be leading a Fitness for Beginners class on Sunday 9th October 10-11am. This class will be an introduction to Strength Training for total beginners or those looking to get back into it after time away, no experience required!

Our contributing Health Coach and Mindfulness Teacher Lou will be sharing balancing recipes to nourish and align with the seasons. Lou will be sharing warming stews, and one pot recipes to keep you going as it gets colder.

Her recipes are packed full of plant based goodness and use in season produce like pumpkin to make sure your pumpkin carving efforts don’t lead to lots of waste!

Our nervous system is our internal balance monitor. We have two states: Parasympathetic (rest + digest) and Sympathetic (fight or flight). This month we will be helping you understand the signs of stress and how to regulate your nervous system.

We will be sharing an “Introduction to Ayurveda” which is the sister science of Yoga. In Ayurveda there are three “doshas” or “types” of people and it helps you understand where your true balance lies. Our new series “The Daily Practice” is designed to help you find your work-life balance. The two short practices “Rise” and “Restore” will bookend your day with calm.
