POCKET GUIDE: COFFEE SPOTS IN WEST WIGHT
Are you visiting the Isle of Wight and want to know where to get your coffee or brunch in the west of the island? We’ve got you covered. Here are a list of some of our favourite spots and their individual charm.
The Freshwater Coffee House
5 School Green Rd, Freshwater PO40 9AJ
This place is a proper community hub. Friendly staff that are always up for a chat, delicious coffee from their own in-house blend, and a wide range of food options from cake to eggs benedict. Sustainability is at the heart of the business with all their coffee being served in “Huskee cups” that are made from recycled coffee husks that otherwise would be a waste product.
You’ll often find at least one of the Balance + Glo team working away on their laptop in the corner!
The Piano Café
Gate Ln, Freshwater PO40 9PY
Located close to Freshwater Bay and the Tennyson Trail this is the perfect stop off for beach go-ers and ramblers alike. They recently renovated the outside terrace to create a perfectly covered sun trap to enjoy your morning coffee or a mezze lunch. Their menu has something for everyone from wraps and paninis, to sharing boards and burgers.
PO41
St James Court, Quay Street, Yarmouth, PO41 0PB
Located in the building of an old post office this small, fuss-free coffee spot is perfect for a pre-ferry takeaway coffee and pastry. There is limited seating inside but why not take your coffee on a stroll around Yarmouth and its surrounding area. The coffee is really, really good.
The Terrace Yarmouth
Quay St, Yarmouth PO41 0PB
This gem of a restaurant in Yarmouth overlooks the harbour and is well known for its evening dining but it has recently opened for coffee and brunch every day of the week! Come here on a sunny day and you’ll have amazing views from the infamous “Terrace”. They also serve homemade focaccia with many of their brunch options, and it is quite frankly, life changing.
Chessell Pottery Café
Brook Rd, Isle of Wight, Yarmouth PO41 0UE
If you staying closer to Brook/Mottistone/Brighstone or you are a cyclist this is a great stop off point. It has both outside and inside space and serves great coffee, cakes, and lunches. If you are coming with kids the pottery painting on offer is a great family-friendly activity.
