Dr Pippa’s top tips for reviving your skin this autumn
Commit to cleansing - cleanse daily & even double to ensure all dirt, irritants & pollutants are removed. This will provide the best base for skin reviving products.
I love the Body Shop Vitamin E face wash as an initial cleanse. It is lovely, gentle and good for sensitive, and combination skin. I use a second cleanser and change this up depending on the seasons and my skin. I’m currently loving Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing balm, Skin & Co Truffle Therapy, and L’Occitane foaming cleansing cream.
Use a gentle exfoliator - revive dull skin with weekly exfoliators. This removes top layers without damage, to open pores & improve product absorbance.
By this I don’t just mean a scrub. An exfoliator is anything which can strip the top layer of dead skin cells from your face. A lactic acid or salicylic acid once a week depending on your skin type is often sufficient. Patch test first and do not use on traumatised or inflamed skin. Do read all the information leaflets carefully & consult with your doctor if unsure. I often go the The Ordinary range for products (but only once a week). If not sure about chemical exfoliation, physical with a gentle element within a wash is a good alternative.
Make the most of a Mask - revival is all about hydration, & masks are perfect for this. Pop on weekly to cleansed & exfoliated skin for best results.
I love any mask, the more environmentally friendly, the better. With this in mind the masks from Lush are one of the best. I find the rose mask super calming and good for redness as well as hydration. If needing a pick me up I often use the Charcoal Mask from the Body shop. Great for my breakouts.

Include a Vitamin C - this is great for brightening, sun protection & dark spot reduction. Helping to rejuvenate any skin damage & revive tired, dull skin.
My problem areas are my under eyes which always seem to look tired! Vitamin C is great for lifting and brightening. With this in mind I often use the Kiehl’s Vitamin C eye cream.
Use that moisturiser - the colder months risk dryness & cracking. Daily (&/or nightly) moisturisers are key. Do hydrate orally too, to help your skin from within!
Any will do! As long as it agrees with your skin. Try a few and stick with what you like and what agrees with you. I change mine all the time again depending on skin cycle and the season. At present I love Elemis, & L’Occitane. For me I like heavy (due to my now older skin - crying emoji here) and luxurious.
Try a bedtime serum - give your skin an extra dose of moisture once a week. This will help skin barrier recovery, hydration & plumping.
Only one way to go here. The Sukin Rose Hip Oil serum from Holland & Barrett! You will thank me later. It is well priced, animal products & cruelty free, and is honestly like a refreshing drink for my skin (plus it currently has 25% off!). I use a couple of times a week and always note the results the next day. Pop on before bed and let the magic work whilst asleep.
Develop a skin care routine - for best results, develop a routine. Pick one night a week for gentle exfoliation, mask & serum. Followed by daily cleansing & moisturising.
Don’t forget that SPF - don’t let all your hard work go to waste! Use SPF daily even in Autumn. As sun damage is still a risk, & is the biggest ager of your skin.
