Run Free with Olivia - Yoga series for Runners
Yoga is the perfect active recovery for runners. Did you know, that performing a gentle flow can help release any tension in your muscles, improve flexibility, range of motion, muscular strength, and calm your body in between runs. Adding yoga to your weekly timetable will help support a healthy and sustainable running routine. Not a runner but keen to give it a go, prioritise yoga sessions to reduce the chance of injury.
Run Strong with Evelyn - Strength series for Runners
There are many benefits of strength training for runners. For example, by increasing lower body strength you can deliver more power, by increasing your upper body strength you can improve your efficiency, and by increasing your core strength you will be able to maintain a stable upper body and minimise side to side movement. Worried that adding strength training will instead make you bulky and slow you down? Evelyn explains that unless you’re lifting really heavy all the time and eating excess calories, you are very unlikely to put on weight that would have a negative impact on your running.
Run wise with Kim
This month, we are super excited to have Kim Murray as a guest expert on the Online Studio. Kim is a former Great Britain skeleton athlete. She is a personal trainer, online coach and Sport & Exercise Physiologist. Kim helps runners build stronger, more resilient bodies. Over the course of this month, Kim will not only be highlighting the importance of warming-up and cooling down, but she will also be sharing routines that you can follow along at home, pre and post run.
This month is all about smoothies - think in a bowl, in a glass, in a lolly! There is something for the whole family this month. Smoothies are a great way to diversify your diet, boost your vitamin and mineral intake, and cool off on a hot day. PLUS they are super speedy to make. Expect picture perfect bowls you want to dive into, the ultimate pre- and post- run smoothies (to give you that energy boost and support recovery), and recipes suitable for little ones.
This month on the Balanced Life Blog, our team will be sharing their expertise on the following topics:
