6 WAYS TO EMBRACE NATURE THIS SPRING

Spring has arrived!

Spring is here and we are embracing it with open arms and a big smile on our faces! The sun is shining, the daffodils are out and we can all enjoy more daylight hours (hurrah for lighter evenings!!). We wanted to share our 6 top tips below on embracing nature in this beautiful season - making use of the extra daylight and relishing in natures blooming qualities. It’ll help you feel better in body, mind and soul.

1.Organise an Evening Walk

Make the most of the lighter evenings and catch up with friends at the same time, by going for an evening walk. Why not put a date in your diary for a regular weekly walk with a friend who lives nearby? With the extra daylight, it's the perfect time to take a moment to appreciate the natural world. One of the best ways to do this is to watch the sunset. Not only is it a beautiful sight, but it also provides a moment of peace and stillness. As the sunsets, take a deep breath and let all your worries float away. For just a few moments, enjoy the simple pleasure of watching the world turn.

Or if you want to meet new people, why not join a local walking group? Or if you’re keen for a challenge why not start training for Walk the Wight on 14th May - with a choice of 5 distances there is truly something for everyone and you’ll experience the most beautiful scenery on your route. 2. Discover Local Wildlife

Many animals and birds are more visible (or audible!) in the spring. Owl watching, for instance, is easier in the lighter evenings (I actually spotted a huge barn owl the other evening whilst packing up from one of our events - just in awe of these creatures!).

If you’re out and about, why not bring a pair of binoculars or a camera with you, then you can get even closer to the wonders of nature. Look closely at the intricate patterns of petals and leaves, or capture an image of a rare bird species. You may even spot animals like foxes, deer, or rabbits in their natural habitats. You will be amazed at how much life there is all around us if you take the time to look around you. Seeing these creatures in their natural habitats will always be a poignant reminder of the power and beauty of nature.

3. Try Gardening

Spring is the perfect time to plant seeds for many summer flowers, as well as summer-flowering bulbs. It’s also a great time to cut back shrubs, do a bit of weeding and mow the lawn if you have one. Island based independent micro flower farm and plant shop on the Isle of Wight, Freshwater Botanicals is our go to and they have just started their first island deliveries this week. Order your Strawberry Plants and Dahlias now! We can’t wait to get started.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a huge garden to get stuck into, why not refresh your container plants or repaint that favourite outdoor chair in new spring colours (then savour that cuppa in the beautiful sunshine.

4. Take a Break Outdoors

One of the best ways to enjoy the warmer weather is to have a picnic lunch outdoors. Make sure to pack a blanket and some snacks. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even try cooking something over a campfire. Don’t forget to bring along a good book or some music to enjoy while you relax in the sun. Picnics are a great way to take advantage of the nicer weather and spend time with friends or family. So get out there and enjoy the springtime! Need inspiration? Why not try some of Evelyns Flapjacks or delicious Rainbow Wraps.

5. Try Outdoor Photography

Awaken your creative eye with nature and wildlife and see the outside world come into bloom through your camera lens. Take advantage of the extra daylight and get outside early for that spring mist and in the evening for the golden sunset light. Take time to look closely at these small objects as they are often overlooked by many photographers, the patterns on leaves or blooming flowers. You’ll begin to notice how intricate and amazing nature is and have a picture to remind you.

6. Take Your Yoga Outside

Doing yoga in nature can be a truly magical experience. Whether it’s in your garden, in the park or even at the beach, you can simply open up your senses and enjoy being in the moment with nature. It makes everything feel different; each pose more heightened, fresh, and acts as a natural mood boost.

Why not try practising our Elements Series on The Online Studio outdoors? This series invites you to connect and embody nature and the elements with yoga postures and flows. Each element, earth, water, fire + air, offers a unique energy and characteristics to support you on and off the yoga mat.

There are so many different ways to embrace nature this spring. Whether you're going for a walk, watching the sunrise or set, reading a book outdoors, or listening to nature sounds, there's something for everyone. So take a break from the everyday , and find a moment to enjoy this beautiful blossoming season.
