6 REASONS WHY WORKING OUT WITH A FRIEND IS BETTER
Now we can get out and about a bit more, reconnecting with our family and friends is high on the priority list. Whether it’s a LIVE zoom class that you attend together or inviting your mates round for a group session in the garden, we guarantee that you’ll have more fun doing it together. This month The Online Studio brings you a partner workout series. Along with Head of Fitness Evelyn and PT Tom this month you’ll move through a series of 4 short classes to be done alongside your bestie! PLUS you also got 4 LIVE CLASSES a week and over 500 classes to choose from on the on demand library so now you’ve got no excuse not to get together and get moving!
And in case you need any more reason to hang out with your buddies, below we share our top 6 reasons why exercising with your bestie is always better:
1.It makes you all more accountable
You and your workout buddy can hold each other accountable. If one of you gets unmotivated, the other can help re-motivate you. Guilt can be a big motivator – specifically in the context of not wanting to let your friend down when you decide to sleep in and your friend shows up to go running. That extra level of accountability increases your odds of success of getting up and getting moving!
2. It makes working out (even more!) fun
Exercise can be fun and our team of experts aim to make you feel great!! If you have someone to laugh with as you work out, you’ll have more positive emotions related to working out and you’ll stop dreading it.
Having a partner (and a cheerleader!) makes things feel easier too!
3. It creates a little friendly competition.
If you’re a little competitive, working out with a friend can make you push yourself more than if you were going solo. We’re not saying go nuts and compete but having a friend by your side can be awesome motivation to maybe try something new or go a little further than you may have done before.
4. Get variety into your exercise routine
Even though you and your workout buddy are friends, you may have slightly different interests. Maybe your friend likes Hiit or Yoga and it’s something you’ve never tried. Why not take up your friend’s interest and give it a try! Then find an activity you enjoy and invite your friends to try something new as well.
Changing things up can also support the goal of making exercise fun.
5. It makes exercise social
Sometimes we need to have some interactions with people outside of work, or away from the kids to ensure a well balanced day. Having a workout buddy can give you the opportunity to talk about personal interests, or even vent about something at work that maybe has been weighing you down. Plus you can always grab a drink or cuppa after too and catch up!
6. Someone to celebrate with.
Working together toward a common goal can help you and your friends have something to look forward to celebrating. If we can enjoy our successes with others, it goes back to the idea of making things fun, and achieving a goal you and a friend have set your minds to can be a big motivator to keep going – it’ll be sure to strengthen your friendship, too.
